Азербайджанцы — интересный и своеобразный народ с древними корнями. В 1991 году я гостил там у родственников, много гулял по Баку. Самый популярный архитектурный памятник столицы Азербайджана — это, безусловно, тридцатиметровая «Гыз Галасы» («Девичья башня»). Однажды и я поднялся на самый верх по её древним каменным ступеням, чтобы полюбоваться крышами «Ичери-шехер» и Каспийским морем на горизонте.Azerbaijan. A unique country where ancient Iranian, Ottoman, Western European, and Soviet influences are mixed together in most unpredictable ways. Its ground spits fire, and its soil is greasy with oil. The Azeri are an interesting and unique people with ancient roots. In 1991, while visiting with some family there, I strolled up and down the streets of old town Baku. The most popular architectural monument of the Azerbaijani capital is undoubtedly the 30-meter-tall “Qiz Qalasi” (“Maiden’s Tower”). One day I, too, climbed its old stone stairs to the very top and enjoyed the view of the “Içəri şəhər” rooftops and the Caspian sea on the horizon.
